In the April issue of COMMERCE magazine, Dr. Najarian discusses the firm’s role in amending the post-Sandy Preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (PFIRMs), which affected many property owners along the Jersey Shore looking to rebuild, construct new homes, or obtain insurance based on their newly assigned flood zone designation.
Najarian Associates was hired by a group of homeowners, home builders, and municipalities to challenge the revised mapping. Through a collaborated effort among our scientists, modelers, and survey professionals, our firm was able to present a viable alternate mapping scenario that was ultimately adopted by FEMA at the elation of our clients who saved considerable resources in their construction and insurance costs.
