Najarian Associates frequently conducts model analyses of
river systems to analyze flooding and water quality impacts. Such analyses can include
model simulations of regional flood flows, stream hydraulics and
stream-bank erosion using HEC-1, HEC-2, TR-20 and HEC-HMS
models. These
simulations provide a basis for future engineering
designs. Najarian Associates also conducts water quality modeling
studies for river and stream environs. Typically, the goal of such
analyses is to assess potential impacts of major water resource
projects (e.g., sewage treatment plant expansions, water supply
diversions, etc.). Such
studies normally entail design and implementation of
field-monitoring programs and application of approved water quality
models such as U.S. EPA’s QUAL2E, MIT-DNM and HSPF. In most cases, these studies
have been conducted under strict regulatory oversight and have been
completed to both agency and client satisfaction. Representative projects are
listed here.
