Najarian Associates has particular expertise in developing and applying numerical models to estuaries. For example, the firm successfully applied a three-dimensional tidal and salt transport model to the Delaware Estuary region for the U.S. EPA's Delaware Estuary Program. Also, under a grant from the Hudson River Foundation (HRF), Najarian Associates modeled salt transport processes in the Hudson Estuary. Previously, HRF funded the firm's development of water quality screening models for small tidal embayments. Najarian Associates has conducted detailed water quality modeling studies of many estuarine systems, including the lower Hackensack and Passaic Rivers.  Representative projects are listed here.

The firm provides modeling services for several major facilities located along the Delaware Estuary, including several power utilities, the Motiva Enterprises oil refinery, and a dredged-material disposal facility. Currently, the firm's staff provides expert model evaluation services for the EPA's NY/NJ Harbor Estuary' Contaminant Reduction Program and the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission.
