Najarian Associates was
retained by Weeks Marine, Inc. to renew the NJDEP Water Quality
Certificate for a 600-acre Confined Disposal Facility (CDF)
along the Delaware Estuary.
To this end, Najarian Associates implemented and modified
existing surface and ground water quality monitoring programs for
the facility. Also,
Najarian Associates provided surveying services, prepared detailed
engineering plans and delineated site wetlands. NJDEP promptly renewed the
Water Quality Certificate for the Facility, allowing Weeks
Marine to continue their vital operations.
Najarian
Associates also provided engineering services to Weeks Marine,
Inc. in support of a NJDEP Waterfront Development Permit Application
for capital improvements at the site. These improvements allowed
Weeks Marine, Inc. to expand the storage capacity of both the tidal
basin and upland CDF.
Najarian Associates conducted numerical model analyses of the
hydrodynamics and water quality of the tidal rehandling basin. These analyses demonstrated
negligible environmental impacts due to the proposed capital
improvements.
